At work, we are strictly #onprem, with an handful of VMs used for some projects. Some months ago, we had to retire a very old #vmware installation and I decided to not repeat the error of embracing a fully proprietary solution. We have now all VMs running on #libvirt as a provider for #vagrant on a #debian box.
A vagrantfile, a few migration scripts and the whole things are now running smoothly.
I wonder why one should run #vmware, #xcpng or #proxmox and friends for an handful of VMs.

Could you give me some quick advices? I want to build a VM in my #Proxmox with 4 cores and 4gb of RAM, I would like also to use the NGFW plugin.

My LAN is a typical home net, I mean, 2 smartphones, 2 PC, a tablet, some IoT devices....

Should be enough with 4vCPU and 4Gb RAM?

@Stark9837 Currently playing with #proxmox on a dl380Gen8, had a personal minecraft server, learning Fedora Silverblue as a dev machine, and I like to isolate security systems, cameras and other IoT as much as possible from my data.

Das Wochenende über weiter an der Nextcloud gebastelt. Einen kompletten Umzug von Baremetal in eine VM auf Proxmox inkl. der integrierten Export/Import-Funktion erfolgreich getestet.
Der Weg ist nun also frei, jetzt koennte ich mir das noch etwas besser organisieren, dazu muesste ich mir noch Gedanken machen.

Ich habs nun doch zum Laufen gebracht.
#opnSense läuft nun auf meinem #proxmox Server. Nun muss ich bloss noch herausfinden, warum der RAM spinnt, den ich extra zur Erweiterung gekauft habe, damit ich da wirklich mehrere Server gleichzeitig drauf laufen lassen kann...

Next year probably I'm going to upgrade my account to a paid plan. And, if I've have enough time maybe I try to self host a Bitwarden instance in my #Proxmox hardware.

Hi!! This device will be part of my new home LAN. It will work as an access point, I can't afford Ubiquity one. Furthermore, I live in a really small apartment, so for me space is critical.

This router will be linked to the mini pc that I'm waiting.

In the mini pc I'll install #Proxmox with 2 VM: A #Sophos Home Edition firewall, and a #Nextcloud instance.

And the mini pc will be linked to my ISP's fiber router, acting as a gateway.

Finally, I have new toys:
- Nano router TP-Link, I'll flash #openwrt as soon as it arrives, I want to try to use as WiFi AP for my IoT devices.
- Mini pc with Intel n5105, 16gb RAM and SSD 512 gb. It will run #Proxmox, with #Nextcloud as my personal cloud. Everything secured by a VM running the ngfw #Sophos Home Edition.

I will see how it performs...

@roshii I first used a #Proxmox #Ubuntu #VirtualMachine with #Wireguard which made the tunnel easy to handle. Now thanks to me having moved to #OPNSense #Router this is even easier and #Firewall handling is trivial.

Empezando a practicar con Sophos XG Home Edition.

El problema es que estoy usando VirtualBox 7.0 y es 💩 de la 🐄, freeze en cinco minutos con una VM Manjaro. Y con W10 se cae la interfaz de red. Lo dicho, 💩 de la 🐄.

Però bueno, este cortafuegos está muy bien: Zonas, url filtering, SSL decryption, bloqueo quic, app filtering...

A ver qué tal va con un Intel N5015 y Proxmox.

Seguiremos informando, muy hush, hush...
