Spotted this paper
cambridge.org/core/journals/be
and accidentally went down a rabbit-hole of papers that will definitely be added to the reading list for my Economic Psychology

including this discussion of dual-process theories (that the above is responding to):

and this on homo economicus and alternatives
sciencedirect.com/science/arti

and this demonstration of mental accounting across 5,589 participants from 21 countries

Excited to share our pioneer pilot crossover testing arketamine for treatment-resistant (TRD). Racemic is a mixture of and . Preclinical data and one open-label human trial suggest arketamine might exert a more potent and longer-lasting effect with fewer side effects. “‘It causes a lot of moral distress for many of us, just because it doesn’t feel like the emergency department is always the right place or best place to take care of many of our patients,’ Dr. Cushing said.
‘But,’ she added, “they really don’t have anywhere else to go.’”

For example, there’s an intriguing case report describing peduncular hallucinosis:

Drug overdose deaths for older adults in the US have more than tripled over the last 20 years.

Black men & women are disproportionately affected.

One of the most interesting things I've been able to implement is creating a genogram for myself as the index person and analysing my own situation (fully acknowledging the sheer amount of bias that will exist).

This has probably been one of the most interesting and useful experiences I have had throughout this entire degree!

Bowen's concept of differentiation of self is incredible. I find it to be one of the most important concepts regarding families and couples. Regarding cutoff of family members such as parents, Bowen considered this to be a significant amount of fusing. Here is where I disagree and think (as he even admitted) that his own experience may have blurred that. It is case-by-case. Then again, my own biases may be at play there too. 😉

One of the holdbacks for me from delving too deeply into anything psychoanalytical is that a lot of it seems to stem more from intuition (at least from my own perspective).

While I appreciate a lot of modern brief psychodynamic interventions, psychoanalytical concepts like the defense mechanism of "splitting" seem like they carry assumptions or biases in identifying them.

100% opinion and random on this one.

I think there is something beautiful about the fact that no matter what you know about grief, how to help others through grief, or how many times you've experienced grief, you still experience the journey when you go through it.

In losing my dog I am now going through the different stages of grief. No matter how much I know, I have to do this. It doesn't matter if you're a "grief expert"--you are still part of the existential human experience.
