Hmm, I wonder why people stopped “choosing” it in 1928. Rub salt in our wounds, why don’t you, Snoqualmie Railway Depot.

The number of times that I’m driving with my family and think, if X component of Seattle’s long term transit plan had already been built/implemented we would be using transit right now.

For a foreigner, even with a transport background, public transit here is quite a puzzle by the way. Had to change from metro to train at a certain point. No gate seemed to accept the metro ticket. Vending machine obviously runs on windows because the main screen of the one and only ticket machine at that station decided to do a reboot just when I wanted to buy a new ticket. Luckily that was the moment I found out that this one specific gate did accept the ATM ticket

Noting that peaches, blackberries, and blueberries are all in season, spouse comments “this is the time of year for a multimodal breakfast.”

It's nice to see Madison Metro featured in the new People First report from TransitCenter and Laurel Paget-Seekins. transitcenter.org/publication/

Also I was curious about service frequency on the Oklahoma City streetcar, so I checked real time arrivals at the stop near my hotel. Yikes. 💀

Cascade Township claims to be "committed" to providing "transit alternatives". The township's version of events is presented, at surprising length but minimal detail, @ mailchi.mp/cascadetwp.com/rapi

Rapid route #29 will cease operation on August 28th, 2023 due to Cascade Township pulling out of the partnership. Route #5 will be extended into Kentwood [which remains is a member of the Rapid].

ridership has increased 5% in since the redesigned system launched a month ago. Trips also used to be double-counted at transfer points, inflating numbers by 8%.

That's according to materials for Transportation Commission later this week.

ABC News: Why do we keep building roads?

> Millions of Australians face the daily frustration of delayed commutes, particularly on busy motorways. But as governments spend billions continually upgrading roads, experts say that might not be the best solution.

Staying in Newtonville, MA. Plan to take transit-obsessed kid to local library by bus. Oops, missed the bus, next one not for an hour. (Typically every 30 min, but oh well., next one cancelled). Plan B: commuter rail to Back Bay, visit Boston Public Library, take Green Line back. Much more fun. If this had involved a different part of the system, I would have called it our “silver line-ing.” But jeez. If only i had my ebike w kid seat.

Seattle —> Portland with transit obsessed kid, day one report: one Amtrak ride (to portland); two MAX train segments; three streetcar segments; three bus segments. Where were we going? Oh, nowhere in particular. The journey is the destination.

Yes. And not just to reduce but also to lessen . It would also help to have better and safer . We're getting there with public transport, perhaps. 🤔 But the here still has a long way to go. ☝️

Illinois legislators aren't even hiding it. In the second paragraph of the bill to expand managed lanes on I-55:

"WHEREAS, Commuters have limited public transit options for
their commutes, which has consequently led to increased
congestion, long and unreliable travel times, reductions in safety, and increased costs for delivery of goods and
services..."
