Ahh... It's a nice + pleasant sunny Friday today 😊

Here's a random "suburban #pukeko" sighting from last weekend. Same place as last time, but there were actually two of em this time. The other one had a clump of white feathers under its right wing.

Ooh, saw a pukeko today for the first time in years. We used to have them around all the time. Wonder where they went.

Love the colour on this Pukeko. The purple bar on the wing matching the chest, and the red crest and beak. You can even see the flash of white around the tail feathers.

It was quite happy posing while I took photos, spending some time rooting around under the water with its beak, and then standing up to dry off & stretch out.

Random #bird sighting of the day: Saw a #pukeko randomly wandering on the side of the road on my way to pick up lunch today.

May not be that rare in other places, but this was a semi-industrial area where you wouldn't expect to find such things to show up. Then again, there is a bit of a mini fenced in nature reserve around there... maybe it escaped from in there?

I don't have any great Christmas-themed piccies right now, so here's a #pukeko instead.
