@mattgriffin in the case of #qsotoday ham expo, with a phone call. Bob Interbitzen called Eric Guth to school him on how it was gonna be.

RATPAC's lead, Dan Marler, received a series of aggressively negative emails from David Minster. The latest round of decisioneering at #ARRL is that no one from the League should accept invitations to present at RATPAC, and an email directing some divisions to "not use any RATPAC videos for training".

Specifically singling out RATPAC as competition for LC.

There's something that's happened recently over at the #arrl, which is the national #hamradio organization for the USA.

ARRL identified, by name, clubs and organizations that produce educational videos as "being in competition with" the ARRL "Learning Center".

ARRL then retaliated against these clubs and organizations, calling them up and stating that these organizations *would be excluded from ARRL publications and partnerships*

Firsthand, #qsotoday and #ratpac are affected.

This is bad.

This is a shortened antenna that uses a meandered or linear load instead of coils or capacitors. It's a design with a long history but is not as well known as it should be.

@M0YNG I mention you and this server in the presentation, and recommend hams to come here.

Slides done, script done - recording the talk for #qsotoday academy about the #shortened #hf antenna work is next. I think I'm tardy in turning it in. 🙄

Voice still not totally recovered from running the #opensource #digital #radio exhibit at #defcon. So, I did not get very far into the 3300 words or so I got going on here before I had to quit for the night.

The script needs some additional editing to be a decent article. That attempt will begin after the recording is complete.

Halfway done with the #qsotoday slide deck and about halfway done with the script (which will double as an article) for the #linear #loading #antenna presentation in September. Will include as many folks as I can find that are experimenting with this design. Really looking forward to this talk.

Progress on an #hf antenna design. I'm doing a talk about it for #qsotoday. It's a shortened half-wave #dipole from a 1958 #rsgb paper.

We are trying to finish up this prototype before #hurricane #Hilary hits.

I enjoyed doing this interview with Eric Guth, 4Z1UG/WA6IGR for his QSO Today podcast.

He got me talking about how I got started in amateur radio, how it influenced my career choices, my satellite work, my educational outreach using the AMSAT CubeSatSim, and high altitude balloon launches. He even asked about my standards work in the past with Session Initiation Protocol SIP!

So - I think I have all of my ‘collateral’ together for my #QSOToday expo presentation. Now I have to start recording it,
but the wise woman I’m partnered up with tells me that I need a haircut before I start that😀. She’s the one the cuts my hair, so I guess she just assigned herself an evening project ✂️

Still picking away at prepping my presentation on the @RadioRocket for the #QSOToday expo. I decided to go with a ‘side by side’ format so for each section I have some pictures etc. of what I did in version one, and then will do video ‘show it’ of how that same thing is being built into version 2 based on what we learned.
