Testing #aprs is of great fun!

Lately I had two WOW-moments, one is positive, one a bit scarry:
1. #aprsfi really works for #spotting. One OM saw my track and we managed to get two #QSOs despite the difficult conditions for #2m (many trees, no line of sight). Thanks to OE3PWR for the patience!
2. Though APRS offers pretty good positioning data, it can also lead to misinterpretations, at least when combined with SAT data. It looks like I climbed up a sandy 90° wall. Nope, not this time! 😵‍💫

Just logged another two local simplex #QSOs on the #2MeterBand - mobile at #OlneyCityPark for #WINTERHEAT2023. No way I’m in the running to make it a competition so I’m just having fun with it. Will probably put a call out again tomorrow sometime. #KE0FFT

Had loads of fun exploring far Eastern #SanDiegoCounty with the family this holiday weekend. Including hikes in #AnzaBorrego #StatePark, strolling through #JulianCA, and camping in the #ClevelandNF.

Of course #HamRadio came along for the ride and as I was trying to branch out from #morse a bit, I also managed to make a few #QSOs on 17m SSB into Japan (58/59 great sigs), and I think my first #SSTV #DX with into XE land. Also managed to use #winlink to read the 68k.news and check the weather.

If you think #parksontheair #pota @POTAspots is ,was,or going to be a #fad, it's here to stay. If you haven't had the chance to experience Field Day everyday, you might be missing out on some the best #amateurradio #QSOs in your #hamradio life.

@wt8p I managed something like 6 #qsos and gave up on #arrlsweeps this weekend. It is good for copy practice though.

Trip to the local #park to participate #QRP in the #arrlsweeps contest was a failure. Just after setting up my #QuarterWaveVertical on 20m and making my first #QSOs for the #contest I was approached by park staff and politely asked to leave. #bummer... I doubt there's any rule against #antennas but I complied anyway.

I have several #QRO rigs but I generally work #QRP portable. This setup with a 9v/200mAh with 2 watts during a #parksontheair #pota activation yielded 23 #QSOs 11 states in 50 minutes on 40m. All with a #qcxmini #qrpradio and a #diy #linkeddipole #RBNcaptue over 500 miles #amateurradio #hamradio
