Really liking #quarto even if only as a neat build system for @pandoc with nice integrations. Currently building a presentation in #RevealJS using @gmcd 's quarto-revealjs-clean presentation style in #VSCode in #Flatpak using #DevContainers (on @Podman_io 8-D) with a custom #pandoc filter by @odin for smart „German“ quote marks.

The result is dead simple to setup and code (thanks to #Markdown), any tool that can run dev-containers should pull in all build dependencies, and I simply vendored the presentation style & the filter. And I get beautiful output, a free speaker view.

#quarto gotcha: if you render a .qmd to an .html and then move the .html file (eg. to an LMS for handing in as an assignment), all images *disappear*, including graph output, because they are in image files that are separate from the .html file. Solution: edit the yaml header to read

format:
html:
embed-resources: true

with the right indentation.

I'm not keen on making my students do this in week 1 of classes, but so it is. #rstats #quarto

Using #MathJax with #Quarto, you can have maths blocks fenced by either `$$...$$` or `\\[...\\]`. However, you need to use double backslashes for the latter but not the dollar delimiters. These attached are the same.

Introduction time! Hello fediscience members! I'm a new member in this instance, but I'm not new in the fediverse. I migrated from fosstodon.org to this instance. There's nothing wrong, I just needed a place where I can post in English and Spanish. I'm an Assistant Professor at CSU Stan. I usually post about #Rstats, #Quarto , #Linux, #juliaLang, #python, #psychology, #bayesian, #aging, #dementia, #mentalHealth, and other topics that I find interesting in #science.

Posting my recipes for using external libraries in Python for #Quarto . The #SymPy #Python library makes it easy to document computations for teaching and research.

This is how I usually set up the beginning of my #knitr / #quarto scripts to download data from #osf that I then use for analysis in the rest of the script.

This way I only need to share the script, and anybody who wants to #reproduce the results will always get the right datafile.

Let me know if there is a better way to do this!
