I finally got parts in to repair my #ipodclassic for tomorrow's stream. New battery and cases. Hopefully we can get both of the #ipod repaired or at the least get one fully functioning. Also the HDD cable in case that was the issue on the other one, double-sided tape for device repair from my cell phone repair days and you can catch me on #Twitch around 7PM EST tomorrow. We'll do some more #qubesos and #Linux tinkering and #gaming

Thank you all for joining my #twitch stream! We got #QubesOS #Linux installed on the laptop next week we will be configuring it. Most of the time was trying to repair my iPods. Had to order parts to complete it as I think the HDD cable went bad in one and the other needs a new back as the threads stripped on the headphone Jack and hold button. But one iPod is at least “working” just needs a new back is all otherwise the hold button falls through. #righttorepair #streamer

Looks like @purism is clearing a backlog of #Librem5 phones thanks to silicon shortages. Still waiting for mine but at least was given an update on the ETA, probably early to mid 2023. Honestly at this point I can wait a little longer seeing as I’ve been so happy with my Librem 14 #laptop and #qubesos. I’m looking at using it as a companion phone, one for work/networking, Librem for a private personal phone with friends. Debating staying on #iOS or moving to #android as well

#Qubes is actually what's called a #hypervisor that runs #Fedora #Debian or other OS's. It allows you separate #VM #virtualmachine instances - one for your banking, one for your socials, one for your work, etc.

@joel I was going to post a request for a breakout of #Debian - #Ubuntu - #Mint - #MX etc but got lost when I started looking up Arch variants in an effort TBF. Also where is #QubesOS not everybody runs bare metal. I also run UbStudio, MX, Mint. Keep meaning to check back on Arch and Fedora derivatives but it is sooo much easier to remember the command line syntax in one family. I do miss Arch documentation however. PS I am actually on toot.community and newsie.social but got the fosstodon memo.

Just got #Mastodon setup on my @purism Librem14 with #QubesOS. I am liking #Whalebird as the local client personally. Yes this is basically my daily driver when I don’t use the Pop!_OS desktop and also what a bit more security. now to back it all up. #cybersecurity #linux

Crap @purism toot reminded me that I needed to update #QubesOS on my Librem 14 and almost the whole system needs updates. So that’s an overnight task 🙃. Probably should check for Monero GUI updates and such for the VM’s as I isolated the wallet and blockchain for security reasons #Linux #laptop

@purism yeah I love my Librem 14 laptop running #QubesOS #linux. It’s pretty my go to choice these days for myself. It’s a great quality laptop if I say so myself.

Ordered a new keyboard and more memory for my 10 year old Thinkpad T420. The plan is to run #QubesOS on it, and use it for the Fediverse, Gemini, email and my blog.

I also have a T480 that I've upgraded recently — added more memory and upgraded the trackpad. I really like how the old Thinkpads are serviceable and upgradable.

@kensanata Of course you're right with your judgement on trustworthiness of software in general. That's an issue but we usually sacrifice control in order to get functionality and convenience.
I wonder if you have thought of using something like #QubesOS to maximize control and minimize attack vectors.
