For Christmas @christi3k gifted me a marbling infinity puzzle from Nervous System. It’s design is inspired by paper marbling and it’s laser-cut plywood. You can pick up pieces and move them to the opposite side and it integrates perfectly into the marbling pattern and the puzzle. Neither of us had ever seen anything quite like it before.

A few evenings later I opened it up and tried to put together a couple of pieces. It was impressively difficult! There next day I asked her to join me, she also was awed at the complexity and beauty. Plus the pieces smell faintly of a campfire!

Today, in the bright sunlight, we finally got it put together! The pieces shaped like a head and a brain are part of the whole, not novelties! It’s so satisfying to pick up pieces and move them across to the opposite side!

I’ve been worn out by the emergency, intra-house move, which has so consumed all spoons that I’ve posted little, but I’m back with another installment!

Today on the #QueerAgenda: Random dudes ignoring 2 signs on the front door saying no to soliciting or bothering us unless you have a delivery, official business, or are a neighbor or friend. Also without a mask, not even one in their vehicle.

Dude, yelling from pickup: Hey, I’d that van for sale?
Me, yelling through mask from driveway: Does it have a “For Sale” sign on it?
Dude: No, but it’s just sitting there…
(Van is carefully backed into our driveway)
Me: Does. It. Have. A. “For Sale” sign. On. It.
Dude: No! You don’t have to be nasty!
Me: You ignored my signs and disturbed my day!

Contractor is great. We have a bad downspout sitch and cracks in the circa 1962 foundation.

We’re about to lose a significant stretch of mature azaleas and rhododendrons, one of which is taller than the 2-story house. Yes, I cried and then felt renewed fury for the prior owners’ shitty decisions that failed to take into account the life of the plantings in relation to things like the house and sewer.

My wife’s office is packed except for tchotchkes. My yoga studio is all packed. Carpet is starting to dry. Two fab folks from Rent-a-Butch coming at noon to do the stair schlep number. Basement waterproofing contractor coming at 8:30 to inspect for giving a bid (I warned him that not a morning person). Sunday I’ll get my temporary teaching space in the living room sorted.

Time to expedite plan to swap home offices! My wife will be upstairs while I’ll set up a temp space for my online classes while we deal with waterproofing solutions for our daylight basement.
