I just updated the sample project using #Unity3D XR Interaction Toolkit with some additional settings to get #QuestPro passthrough working with underlay - https://github.com/davidezordan/starter-project-unity-xri-quest-pro

Finally, you can literally "grab" your #wifi signal and find your #network dead spots in #mixedreality. Special thanks to the @BadVR_Inc team for putting together such a handy app. Link below 👇

It seems to me that anyone with a #QuestPro headset and a #3DPrinter might benefit from being able to print replacements for those easily lost nibs. If I knew what I was doing with CAD yet I would probably just figure it out and open source them.
One thing that did NOT improve thru the #Oculus generations is portability.
From left to right: official cases of #OculusQuest, #OculusQuest2 and #QuestPro.
WTF, @Meta 😛 the last unit I could take on a plane was the Quest1 https://medium.com/@vibronet/in-flight-vr-using-the-oculus-quest-on-a-plane-38c9808c32b2

And finally, the first non-Oculus… the #QuestPro. Fantastic passthru, great hardware so far… probably not worth the money, but I am happy w it anyway. I wish I’d have more time to play w it!
I see that the temperature outside is a very comfortable 65F. I think today will be a good day to test working in #ImmersedVR with my #QuestPro headset outside. I just have to make sure to find a shady spot without direct sunlight.
Some lessons learned along the way:
1. GPU matters here. If you're on Mac ecosystem, M1 or better is so much smoother than Intel Macs.
2. Network matters here. WiFi6E makes a difference.
3. Meta makes great hardware but their first-party software is really disappointing. I primarily use #ImmersedVR and #NodaVR apps for work.
4. Yes the #QuestPro is worth the premium over the #Quest2.
5. Yes, coworkers are disrupted at first when you join a meeting with an avatar. This passes quickly.

My #VR setup has done some growing this week.
1. Using #BetterDisplay to set up two virtual displays 1:1 (square!) aspect ratio to the left and right of my main display. Plus another 16:9 display above my main one. I see them all in #immersedVR.
2. Picked up a Google Chromecast 4K and plugged it into my #ATEM Mini. Now I can use my first person POV as a webcam on zoom calls. Very handy when I am in #NodaVR.
Waiting for HDMI ghost plug to arrive today. Related.

Today is a busy day! My first meeting is pretty cool. It’s the first time someone ever picked the #metaverse option on my #calendly. So we will be talking within my #immersedVR environment. #VR #questPro

I got back into Noda tonight after a long hiatus and it was so nice. It had me thinking on my feet, and moving within my thoughts. I just wish I had a larger space to use for this! But there are some gestures that let you slide your whole mind map around in 3 dimensions around you so you can still make massive mind maps in a small physical space.
I didn’t figure out the Miro integration tonight but that’s on my mind for tomorrow. #NodaVR #VR #Metaverse #QuestPro #Quest2 #Miro

The biggest missing piece of my remote work experience is that feeling of being in a small conference room with 3-5 other people, whiteboarding to solve a problem.
I've tried a bunch of things to try and recreate that experience while being remote.
The closest I have come is four people, with #VR headsets, using #Workrooms (https://www.meta.com/work/workrooms/) and the Virtual Whiteboard it has.
I'm a bit of a skeptic about these kinds of things. I'm old(er) and grumpy and not at all prone to jumping on a fad/bandwagon etc. I firmly believe most "new" things are just improvements on old things, and often in dumb ways.
However, the more I meet in Workrooms and collaborate with others on a small scale, the more it feels decent. I can squint at it and think, this could be "normal" one day and function well enough to let me forget how I am doing something and focus on what I am doing.
What made me think of this was yet again looking around at thermal sensors to try and make a small thermal camera to mount on my headset that would function like this:
You'd use a smooth wall, or a window (or even an actual whiteboard) and then use your finger (or a thermal pen) to draw on the surface, and the thermal camera would see the trace amounts of heat your finger imparts to the surface, and then "draw" that on the whiteboard in the room.
The current method of using the controller turned around is .. ok(ish)... but it still doesn't feel natural.
Although I will say this week, I discovered that the tip on the end of the controller for the #QuestPro, and the large "keyboard/mouse mat" on my desk make a surprisingly good combination.. felt nice to write on the squishy material with the nib.

If I had a nickel for every time #QuestPro lost track of my desk height end rendered it a few inches below actual height...
