Three faces of the same #sunset, at 50, 100 and 600mm, recpectively (might not be uploaded and displayed in that order).

The colours in these images were obtained with a custom RGB tone curve profile in Picture Style Editor. I'm including a screenshot of it. Colours themselves weren't changed (in the profile), albeit the mentioned custom profile is based on "Landscape" one that Canon cameras have built-in and I do find the latter to not be linear about it on the colour wheel. But, the posted photos are, technically, straight out of cam! As meaningful as that is with digital cameras 😜

Encore une belle journée sous la neige dans les Hautes-Fagnes. Voici une autre vue, prise avec le Canon EF 50mm 1.4, je l'ai toujours trouvé un peu mou à pleine ouverture mais ici je trouve qu'il rend très bien.

Another beautiful day under the snow in the High-Fens. Here is another shot, taken with the Canon EF 50mm 1.4, I always found it a little soft at full aperture but here I think it looks very good.

Playing with #handheld #FlashPhotography long #telephoto #macro #photography. This photo shows the central, days old or younger budding on a young Chinese #cabbage (Brassica rapa subsp. pekinensis) #seedling grown indoor under artificial light (6500K vegetative phase CFL).

In one hand #Canon #R6 with Soligor C/D 28-200mm f/3.8-5.5 MC Macro #vintage variable aperture zoom lens and also Soligor C/D7 macro focusing (with built-in helicoid) #teleconverter attached (shot at macro ratio of about 1:1.25, 56mm f/11 effective, 1/320s, ISO-400), in the other hand Godox V860IIC remote triggered flash unit with a white diffuser on. About 2kg worth of poorly-balanced equipment held in very awkward position. The things I do for your viewing pleasure!! 😜

I used a custom picture style I named "Winter UV Recover" that is meant to do, well, what the name says, but appears to do fairly well also with flash photography 🤷‍♂️

@greggadams I suspected #Pixel7 was making a lot of these #stars up while losing many others in #computationalphotography #postprocessing cleanup, so I took the liberty of running your photo through an online #astrometry tool. Well, after giving it a decently thorough try of over 10 minutes, it failed to identify the part of the sky your photo shows https://nova.astrometry.net/status/6992627 I mean it's a nice looking photo, it just doesn't align particularly well with reality.

One thing that bugged me the most with it is that it made all the stars the same colour and there's a sudden cutoff at a certain apparent magnitude of stars in the clearest portion of the sky where there should be more fainter stars visible than behind the clouds, and yet it's exactly the opposite in your photo.

I'm attaching a quick test of a similar scene but using a "dumb" #Canon #R6 for comparison (just using a kit lens, wanted to see how well it'd do). Astrometry tool identified the #starfield in 50s https://nova.astrometry.net/status/6992748

I guess we'll have to invent new branch of #ethics with "computational photography" just as we're overdue having one for #AI generated contents like #ChatGPT, #DALLE or similar. :breadthink: #FoodForThought

I'm just sometimes not quite sure what #Canon was thinking. This was shot with both auto lighting and digital lens optimizers set to full and auto white balance with ambient priority - I'm sorry, but what came out doesn't resemble golden hour (notice the long shadows). Not to mention the heavy and unnecessary crop that simply beats the purpose of a wide (RF native) lens and will of course mess with your framing. If this is progress and the future of mirrorless, why do I get more consistent and true to life #OOC stills with an 8 year old Samsung NX??
