@sindarina Personally, I think violating #RFCs should be a criminal offense, since I've also experienced the #VPN-breaking use of #RFC1918 adresses for #CGNAT!
I’m continuing my journey on getting more familiar with #HTTP #APIs by reading related #RFCs. This time, I read the #HealthCheck Response Format for HTTP APIs on the suggestion of Stefano Fago. In this post, I’d like to summarize my reading.

@thedarktangent the arpanet is fascinating, and for those who don't know the numbered "RFC" documents were originally written as request for comment notes from arpanet planning meetings. The #365rfcs blog series does a really great job of making reading these #RFCs sequentially fascinating as they track the design and implementation of #ARPANet:
People interested in #dns specifically or in #ietf #rfcs generally may want to have a look at https://www.icann.org/en/announcements/details/icann-launches-new-rfc-annotations-project-28-11-2022-en
Seeing some claims that “RFCs are a more comprehensive solution than Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) etc” which seems like a weird angle to take, since the average software engineer wouldn’t be able to tell the difference and the quality of output for both RFCs and ADRs is entirely contingent on the quality of the input and thought that goes into writing and discussion. #SoftwareArchitecture #documentation #RFCs

New TCP RFC 9293 published.
"The purpose of this document is to bring together all of the IETF Standards Track changes and other clarifications that have been made to the base TCP functional specification (RFC 793) and to unify them into an updated version of the specification."

Le protocole HTTP fait l’objet d’une normalisation technique très active, les RFC qui spécifient officiellement HTTP viennent d’être publiés.

The HTTP protocol is the subject of very active technical standardisation, the RFCs that officially define HTTP have just been published.
@bortzmeyer explains it all on our blog https://www.afnic.fr/en/observatory-and-resources/expert-papers/reorganisation-of-the-technical-standards-for-http/
#introductions Back on Mastodon! I'm an enterprise system architect that focuses on system processes, design and integration with other systems. Definitely a computer guy. Desktop OS of choice has to be ghostBSD. Server of choice is FreeBSD, or anything else supporting ZFS. Interested in #quantumcomputing, #networking, #security, #development, #hardware, #electricalengineering, #cake, and live tooting #RFCs.

Lovely look at how things were (and are still) run in the area of Internet standards. Also how RFCs got their name and why open standards should be the way the world works.

As a matter of fact I like this, except that I am missing
* a pause-button :D
* RFCs in text form without stuff in the text that is there for printing... :D
stuff that would be fancy:
* skip (sub-)chapter
* some sort of hint that there is a diagram or similar that is being read as these things tend to not make much sence when purely read LTR :D
How do you folk listen to #RFCs? Are there fancy scripts/programs ready-tp-use?
