Well, I think I need to leave the #office. I need to use a #VPN to collect more data. The office network blocks VPNs. Inwas asked to have this data available today.

Being in the office is so counter to getting things done.

In the office early. Listening to someone's phone conversation, I heard a lady say her child has #COVID, but she can't take off from work right now, so her child has to go to school. I wasn't close to her, but upon hearing that, I left and went to my room that most others don't have access to. The office is doing a social gathering this week. I am not going.

@collin @geichel Well, at Big Software Company we endured 3 years of ~2-3% raises while inflation was running 10-12% (and our profitability didn't fall much). Then we got an "inflation adjustment" of.... 0.5%. Whee, now I can buy that boat. Still a pay cut, fuckers.

So when they started harassing us about #RTO, people started to get pissed.

They just sent out the details of the return to office mandate. They specifically had a line saying that they want your butt in the office even if you only work with people in other cities.

I'm getting the impression they really just want us physically there for #tax and #accounting purposes.

I wish this could be delayed until after construction completes for that apartment in the middle of one of the parking lots. It really messes traffic up.

I remain convinced that "You grunts need to work in the office all or most of the time" CEOs are that way because they are hapless extraverts and only understand that model of interaction. They want to be able to reach out and literally touch someone (in an HR-approved way), not Zoom some associate whose dog is barking in the background.
