I think it's time to upgrade my aging #Nvidia #RTX 2070 Super, but I can't decide if it want to go with #AMD for better #Linux support and bang for buck or with another Nvidia card. I'm leaning most towards the 6950XT, but I'm also curious to wait for the rest of the 7000 series to come out.

My new (to me) #RTX 3070 does everything I need it to do. #DeathStranding maxed out on the 4K LG OLED tv in the living room? Easy. #AssettoCorsaCompetizione damn near maxed out on the 38” ultrawide (3840x1600) monitor? Pfff. #Cyberpunk on the same ultrawide monitor with a little bit of DLSS (balanced) along with “high” settings on everything else? Done.

The biggest issue is the amount of VRAM. 8GB just really isn’t enough for the horsepower of this card. It can easily outrun the amount of memory it has onboard so I have to keep an eye on that while I dial things in. This, however, is a small issue in the grand scheme of things. Very happy with my eBay purchase!

My #anxiety has been all over the place lately. Was hoping that after things worked well in my favor at work my body would relax. Boy was I wrong. I’ve been needing to get connected with a new doctor for a while now so I really need to get that taken care of. New #medicine might help.

Need to dive into some #games (hello new #RTX 3070!), read more of Leviathan Wakes (aka #TheExpanse), and watch some fun movies. The #24hDaytona is this weekend and I can’t wait for that. I love me some sportscar racing.

At least my 2-month long #migraine ended before the holidays and hasn’t shown any hints of a return.

My eBay purchased #nvidia #RTX 3070 should be delivered today. I really hope it isn’t a literal brick.

Any who, gonna share some screenshots I taken over the years while gaming.

First one off, Portal RTX. The raytracing effect is kinda hard to capture but it is a bit neat. Is it buy high end card neat? No.

Also, if you have an older 2XXX or such, it is runnable, the default settings for raytracing just slam the poor cards (it was even being stupid with my monster 3080Ti).

There is speculation that NVIDIA wil launch the RTX4070 Ti at the same price as the “unlaunched” RTX4080 12GB (and likely the exact same card). The claimed performance is between an RTX 3090 and RTX 3090 Ti so the price/performance based on current retail prices is essentially flat. Disappointing, but expected since NVIDIA is still selling through 30 series stock.
