5 followers · 90 posts · Server universeodon.com2/ I've been #RVing for nearly 20 years now, with many trips of 3 months or more. In all that time, the single best #Campsite we ever had was the #Walmart #ParkingLot in #Whitehorse, #Yukon.
In my opinion, the best time for a #RoadTrip to #Alaska is late summer to autumn. Most of the predatory mosquitos are gone from Alaska & Yukon by then; and at least by autumn there are fewer tourists, so it's easier to get a campsite in some of the most heavily trafficked areas. It starts getting a bit chilly at night, but if you time it right, it's not enough below freezing at night to worry overly-much about freezing your holding tanks at night.
On our second Alaska trip, we were returning through Whitehorse at exactly the right time. All the campgrounds there were closed, but #Walmart welcomed #RVs in their parking lot. So we camped there overnight, and restocked for the trip south.

They have a cost, but they exist in most of the National Parks and **many** of the National Forests. recreation.gov is the entry point for finding and reserving sites. It is uniformly well-designed with much useful information. Highly recommended. #RVing #camping #hiking #NationalParks
