I felt first hand the impact of the #RailStrikes today.

Multiple train cancellations, severely overcrowded trains, and in one case staff actually having to ask customers to remember to flush the loo

At first, I was your average angry at the unions. Then I realised the rail operators made the same profit today running fewer carriages but cramming us in like sardines.

All whilst their mates in government blame the unions and the staff doing their jobs.

Looks like @tpexpresstrains are on strike today. Dozens of cancellations, long delays, and trains simply not turning up.

#RMT #RailStrikes are really poorly targetted. They are striking on major sporting events that working class people care about.

They should have gone in strike for the coronation to highlight the money being wasted there instead.

RMT members have voted to accept the latest pay offer. Key features of the offer include an uplift on salaries of between 14.4 per cent for the lowest paid grades to 9.2 per cent for the highest paid.

It also included a total uplift on basic earnings between 15.2 per cent for the lowest paid grades to 10.3 per cent for the highest paid grades.
Strikes work. I hope #NHS workers take heart from this and reject the govt's insulting offer.

A warning for anybody travelling to #FOSDEM by rail from the UK in two weeks time. There are rail strikes planned for Wednesday 1st Feb and Friday 3rd Feb. Friday is the day most of us will be travelling.

The #Eurostar is running on both those days, but it might be difficult to get to London by rail.

One option is to take to the train to London on Thursday 2nd Feb, stay in a hotel overnight, then Eurostar to Brussels on Friday.
