Today's Thing of Beauty: Talbot Street after a summer rain. #StThomas #Ontario #Canada #ElginCounty This street named after Colonel Thomas Talbot, who in early 19th century "managed" settlement of southwestern Ontario from #Amherstburg to #Delhi. Until he was removed by the #Crown. St. Thomas has a legacy of #railways and in the 19th and early 20th centuries served as a critical commercial hub.

I’m in my mid 40’s, have worn hearing aids since I was aged six…and I commuted to work by train for great chunks of my career and only today have I by chance read that I’m entitled to a Disabled Person’s Railcard in the UK. I could have saved a third off my travel costs. Argggghhh!

The crowd-funded European sleeper aims to take on air travel. "We don't need to persuade everybody to come by train: just 5% of current air travellers would make us fully booked every day," its founder, Chris Engelsman, says.
Unfortunately, there are no plans yet for new services direct from London. Different carriage size regulations and the cost & bureaucracy of using the Channel Tunnel make it uneconomic at present. (Thanks Brexit).
