It seems the one on the left has a broken beak, but it didn't seem to be impeding its feeding.

Two (), perhaps mates, foraging on this blustery winters day.

Difficult to get good shots as they were active and this eucalypt tree was dense with foliage and flower.

Heard them chirping in the distance and got the phone at the ready!

Gorgeous these! 🌈🌈

Oh, the tree is called one of many; yellow gum, blue gum or white ironbark.

The (Trichoglossus moluccanus);

Is a species of parrot found in Australia.

Are common along the eastern seaboard, from northern Queensland to South Australia.

Habitat is rainforest, coastal bush and woodland areas.

Have been introduced to Perth, Western Australia, Tasmania, Auckland, New Zealand, and Hong Kong.

There is little to visually distinguish between the sexes.

: The rainbow lorikeet is a medium-sized parrot, with the length ranging from 25 to 30 cm (9.8 to 11.8 in) including the tail, and the weight varies from 75 to 157 g (2.6–5.5 oz). The plumage is very bright and colorful. The head is deep blue with a greenish-yellow collar, and the rest of the upper parts (wings, back and tail) are green. The chest is orange/yellow. The belly is deep blue, and the thighs and rump are green. In flight a yellow wing-bar contrasts clearly with the red underwing coverts. They’re truly beautiful.

He and his cheeky rainbow lorikeet mate were having fun in the branches. His mate is in pic 3.

They’re gorgeous birds… and smart.

This one was cheeky; he knew he was being marvelled at and stuck around to be adored and worshipped!

Meet - it’s a species of flowering plant in the family Convolvulaceae, known by many names, including blue morning glory, oceanblue morning glory, koali awa, and blue dawn flower.

It has heart-shaped or 3-lobed leaves and purple or blue funnel-shaped flowers 6–8 cm (2–3 in) in diameter.

And such a bonus… they flower from spring to autumn.

A previous toot today featured two cheeky foraging in the trees. This was where they were snapped, in this gorgeous growth… in .

During our recent zoo visit we saw wild (well, um… resident!!) - aren’t they just gorgeous?

We were there before opening time as we did a ’glamping’ overnight stay and the zoo keepers feed them first thing in the morning, in their accustomed hang-out place.

So the timing was perfect for some colourful and playful snaps!

A load of were feeding at the this morning.

They were at ground level and close to the main path. They had no care in the world apart filling up their bellies and posing for shots!

There were at least a dozen taking turns at the feeder.

So colourful and vocal.

A sneak preview from the Lorikeet Lympics training camp.
Here is noted gymnast Blanik going through his warmup on the parallel wires:
1. Double talon mount
2. The difficult three point split, with reverse beak grip
3. The very difficult transition to the overhead beak grip - note how the lower talon grip changes also; and last,
4. The rarely performed 180 pivot with double grip
