Can the Rancher peeps clarify something for me? Does rke2 use /run/k3s/containerd/containerd.sock in any way? I always see references to it. Sometimes for rancher-desktop (makes sense), but at times in the context of a rke2 conversation. #k8s #kubernetes #Rancher #rke2

I haven't had to use Docker in a long time. I use #podman and #colima usually, #minikube and #rancher as fallbacks. I recently ran into a situation where I needed to use Docker on my mac. Apparently now you can't use docker at all without this subscription, If you close it, the app crashes, it doesn't say "you cannot use this software" nicely, it just crashes with no explanation.

I'm just... not going to fix this situation where I'm trying to help a fellow docker user.

@nirik In fairness, #Rancher #k3s had this problem until recently and the AlmaLinux image builder still does. You can't build AlmaLinux 9 images from their repo from AlmaLinux 9 (or Fedora) at the moment.

I was thinking about the first LINUX environment I really enjoyed working with. :suse_logo: #suse I built my first LINUX desktop env and ran with it. They bought #rancher back in 2020. I wonder if I need to revisit it. Linux and Containers. WOW The lizard swag was amazing at conferences. Currently running with #ubuntu

@maxamillion I will say that's one thing I very much appreciate about #Rancher - upgrading k8s with Rancher is very easy.

I also got a #Kubernetes cluster going with #rancher #k3d as well and it was admittedly a little easier since it could grok podman's Docker emulation.

What in the world is #rancher? I know what #kubernetes is, I know what #orchestration is... is rancher just a kubernetes orchestrator? Doesn't #terraform do that already or am I missing something here? It doesn't make sense to use with managed kubenernetes, right?

Who's the target audience for rancher? Their frontpage is pretty terrible at explaining that.
