A couple of years back I bought nearly half of #ranciere catalogue en français. Books like #LeSpectateurEmancipe, #LaDestinDesImages, #LesTempsModernes etc. I was living in a barn on my brother's farm, as it was the first covid year and didn't want to encounter people. So I just read #ContinentalPhilosophy and #ZenPoetry. And drove a tractor between the readings.

Fun thing with #ranciere is that I'm reading him en français, and my French (pardon) isn't too shabby. So I'm kind of learning French by reading contemporary French philosophy. It gives certain flavour to the learning process. Like, having read #ThomasBernhard with my novice Deustch, I recognize words like "er sagt" and "das ist Wahrheit". Learning languages the hard way: read books in a language you cannot.

#ranciere has been following me since I bumped into the guy (metaphorically) after reading an analysis of his political philosophy (especially the work #dissensus) by #ErnestoLaclau in #ThePopulistReason when working on my Master's thesis on #Finnish #populism. Despite their different approaches to the #political, I liked how they both pinpoint the necessity and inevitability of conflict in the societal structure. To me, they both write essentially about #rhetorics. And I LOVE rhetorics.
