I'm generally with him but it's a dumb argument. at some point, Republicans are going to nominate a candidate that Democrats are ok with losing to such that they don't argue everybody on the left needs to vote for them instead of somebody more progressive? we have to vote strategically and pass #RankedChoiceVoting everywhere. And ultimately, the Democratic party will oppose this change along with Republicans as they've already done where it has passed.

I agree with that kind of voting, but I don't think they will ever support structural change that threatens them. we will also have to pass #RankedChoiceVoting etc and probably fight both parties to achieve and maintain it. that's what we've seen around the country. yes, use the parties and politicians, don't ever think of yourself as a member of a party or put your faith in these people.

We won't have #RCV in all 50 states for the 2024 election. But at least #CornelWest and #MarianneWilliamson support RCV. In that sense they're at least hinting that they don't want to be spoiler candidates who hand the election to #Republicans. Of course they may be spoiler candidates anyway. But is RFK even hinting that he doesn't want to be a spoiler candidate?

Biden wasn't in my top three during the primary, either, but he's exceeded my expectations. I don't see nearly as much hippie-punching by Democrats as I used to.

I'm hoping that democracy's near-death experience with #Fascism will continue to empower the progressive wing of the party. Among many other things, we need a federal minimum standard for elections that includes #RankedChoiceVoting and #ProportionalRepresentation.

If you elect multiple legislators from a single multi-member district with #SingleTransferableVote, you end up getting #ProportionalRepresentation as a side effect.

In Canada we have about 2/3 of voters centre-left leaning and two main parties represent that (Liberal and NDP). First passed the post splits the vote between them and the conservatives take the seat with 40% or less of the vote.
