I’m doing a #bookchallenge for 2023 (#ReadHarder from @bookriot) . I have two categories that need filling.
** Read a book about #activism. I’d like to focus on #queeractivism
** Read a #nonfiction book about BIPOC and / or #queerhistory
Suggestions, please!
#LGBTQIA #LGBT #LGBTQ #queer #queerbooks
(aside: I have books centering #Black, #AIPAA, and #Indigenous voices elsewhere on my list).

@Paperbacks_n_Frybread I’m doing the @bookriot #ReadHarder challenge for 2023 – it’s an excellent beginning to reading, more #queer, #indigenous and #Black authors.
It is easy to be #Anti-Racist and still read mostly white authors. Pushing yourself outside of those fences is worthwhile and rewarding.
#ReadHarder #queer #indigenous #black #anti
@bookstodon @AnnieTheBook I have yet to read any of their work (aside from twitter posts).
I’m doing the #ReadHarder challenge for 2023, and I managed to slot one on their books into my list!
@bookstodon Reading challenges: who else is doing one, and which challenge(s) are you doing?
I’m pretty excited about the #ReadHarder Challenge from #Bookriot. It really seems crafted to get me out of the fictional ruts today fall into.
#Introduction #introductions #NewHere (1/3)
Ive finally settled into zirk.us being my mastodon home, so an introduction is in order.
I used to read 100-150 books a year, before the pandemic broke everything.
I may never read as voraciously as I did before, but I would like to read with intention.
I will be participating in the 2023 #Bookriot #ReadHarder challenge - http://bookriot.com/read-harder-2023/… and will attempt to #blog my adventures at http://purdy-johnson.com.
#introduction #introductions #newhere #bookriot #ReadHarder #blog
If I complete this challenge, I’ll have read 24 books, and nudged my horizons just a bit wider.
My attention span is in shreds. Maybe this year is too soon for a concentrated effort like this, but I’m going to try all, of course use the #ReadHarder and try to document what I read and why and how I felt about it.
Pre-pandemic, i read 100-150 novels a year, with no particular plan. When life got hard, I read more romance novels and when life got really hard, I read nothing but tried-and-true favorites.
In 2020, from March-December, I finished 4 or 5 novels. 2021, 11. In 2022, I’ve reach 13.
I’m participating in the #ReadHarder challenge for 2023. I’ll read more types of writing, and far more marginalized populations. I intend to read diversely, but without direction, they’re mostly white.
https://bookshop.org/p/books/lilith-s-brood-octavia-e-butler/11018597 Found this at B&N on a rare date night and fell right in to the series. I can't believe I had never reading anything by such an amazing #SciFi author. The world and focus on genetic changes was really intriguing for me and gave me new imaginations. Read another #afrofuturism book by this author for #ReadHarder 19 and will be looking to read all her works soon.

@ThienThaiMeow I will. My high school/college education included very little modern #history and I prefer to learn via novels and stories. What I like best about the #ReadHarder challenges is discovering new perspectives, authors, etc. I'll have a look. Thank you!
I have tried to accomplish the @bookriot #ReadHarder challenge for the last 7 years. This year I've finally done it (or will one I finish the last book in a few days) https://bookriot.com/read-harder-2022/. So partly bragging, partly because I read some awesome books, I am going to share my reading list, one book a day for the next 24 days!
One of my favorite things about this time of year is that the #ReadingChallenges for next year start being released. Even when i struggle for the concentration to #ReadBooks I find it so fun to plan my reading for the year, to figure out books for each prompt, no matter how obscure. Anyone else as much a planner as a #reader ?

@_RachelHandley I just finished that book (picked for a #ReadHarder challenge. I felt like I learned a ton about different ways of experiencing #disability and #ableism. Looking for where I can assign sections to my child language disorders in school age children class that is mainly pre#SLP students this spring.

#Introduction I'm a professor in speech language pathology and an #SLP who studies child language development and disorders. My work sits at the intersection of #Intervention #ImplementationScience #CognitiveScience #DevelopmentalPsychology and #Syntax.
Professionally I'm interested in things related to #ClimateJustice #Disability #ECE #SpeechLanguagePathology #OpenScience & #DEI. Personally I'd add #Scouting #Geocaching #WaterColor & #Reading including the BookRiot #ReadHarder challenge.
