I finished The Plant Thieves by Prudence Gibson last week, it was really enjoyable! It's an arty-historical collection of stories based around the National Herbarium of New South Wales.
Now I can return the book to the library and finally get my borrowing rights back, ahaha... thinking of reading "She and Her Pretty Friend" by Danielle Scrimshaw next.

What’s everyone #reading in August? I’m pretty sure I’m starting with some Virginia Woolf (To the Lighthouse) followed by China, A History by John Keay. I would like to brush up on my understanding of China and Chinese history. Maybe then I’ll read Chinese poetry in the fall.
Time keeps rolling forward …

I find myself often forgetting that i have a bunch of things ready to read in my Read Later list. I already made shortcut on my Home Screen that pulls up a random article and I still don’t do it often. How do other people do this?
Finally finished reading Because Internet by @gretchenmcc - it was so entertaining, especially as an Old Internet Person! Will definitely be getting a copy for the budding linguist in our family.
Next up is The Plant Thieves by Prudence Gibson, which I'm pretty sure J and his mum will end up reading too. Loving it so far.
Very excited to begin a new chapter and to revive #phdreadingoftheday (mostly from prep for my PhD qualifying exams and proposal) with #postdocReadings!
Starting with Decolonizing design: a cultural justice guidebook

Doesn't hurt to enjoy a cold beer on a patio while doing so.

What "disruptive" book similar to The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson can you recommend? I use the term disruptive because said book is very different from the typical #SelfHelp books I've read. 😂

Ray Bradbury, man. Does he always have to be so right about us?
I needed some #scifi in my mental universe but somehow the news keeps creeping in.

In advance of Mother's Day, Claire Hodgdon brings us eight thoughtful reads for those who have lost their moms. "But there is another face, sometimes. I recognize other 'dead mom kids' almost instantly. They don’t pity — they laugh. They raise their hand for a high five. They respond with, 'Mine too!' and my whole body relaxes."

"Twenty years ago, when I was 10, my mom died of colon cancer. That’s how I like to tell people: as quickly as possible. I say it before I know them. I say it as fast as I can, usually shoving a second topic into the same sentence. My mom died when I was 10 — what have you been reading lately?" —Claire Hodgdon on navigating life after losing her mom at a young age.
