Last night Reading women protested to demand an end to violence against women and harassment of women and girls
What difference does it make?
All protests raise awareness but #ReclaimTheNight does more. It changes the atmosphere - the reaction from women and men as we marched was 90% heart warming - women joining in, standing taller and men applauding.
If it made a few men uncomfortable they probably should reflect on why.
'YES MEANS YES AND NO MEANS NO'
Last night Reading women, including me, marched to Reclaim the Night. Our protest demands an end to violence against women and harassment of women and girls
Someone asked me what difference it made.
Every protest march raises awareness but reclaim the night has a different vibe. The reactions of those we passed - men and women - showed even our presence boosted women's confidence, got men thinking - and mostly supporting!
'Yes means yes and no means no'
