Last one in my American Avocet series (East Pond Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge). The Avocet is now feeding in the middle of the pond, so we can use a low shot for an excellent background.

A series of an American Avocet feeding at the East Pond of Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. The relatively soft focus is due to heat distortion b/c I'm shooting from just above ground level on a baking mudflat.
