I enjoyed the story and the story missions, although I wish there were more side missions. I initially thought the enemy density was too sparse, because sometimes it takes a fair amount of wandering to run into enemies. The flip side of that is you get to explore the world more uninterrupted, so I guess I have mixed feelings about that. I don't care for the weapon leveling, but I get that that's part of the game design they wanted. I also wish there were a little more reactivity in the world, for instance, if I kill Bloody Tom, all the little Bloody Tom stations should stop whispering his voice and maybe the Bloody Tom cultists should be dispirited or something.

Anyway, I got a lot of enjoyment out of the game, certainly more than the reviews would have led me to expect. I wish they'd waited a couple months and released the 1.1 version as I think it would have been better received and would not have had to contend so much with TotK, Jedi Survivor, FF XVI, Diablo 4, etc.

It me. Actually, I rolled credits last night. Conservatively put in 90+ hours playing this game. The 1.1 patch fixed the worst texture loading bugs and the AI is improved. Obvs I found a lot to entertain myself with here, I didn't spend that much time playing because I hated it.

I'm the kind of person who likes roaming around open worlds looking at stuff as opposed to whatever the game thinks your supposed to do, so I also tend to have longer playtimes than most folks. The environment storytelling is what I've come to expect from Arkane. As someone who grew up in New England, I loved seeing the fall colors on display in Redfall. Top marks to the folks who did the environments and also the audio design, which is excellent.

Gunplay felt pretty good. I was pleased to be able to use the sniper rifle without a lot of wobble, but that might be because I picked Jacob as my character.

The good news is: gamepass means I can be playing it day one with no extra cost, if it's a flop that's sad but not a financial loss.
If it's good though, I'll be happy.

It needs to be though, #Xbox hasn't really had anything truly exciting this generation yet. Switch has the new Zelda. PS has new Spiderman and GoWs.

And #redfall was an utter disappointment.

#Starfield is now a hail Mary pass for the platform.

Провал «Prey» 2017-го по факту стал для «Arkane Austin» смертельной раной с последующей гангреной и агонией. «System Shock» похоронил ещё одну студию западной школы имеерсивсимов. Браво.

Радует, что хоть многие разрабы отказывались делать это мультиплеерно-сервисное говно и просто уходили из студии. Например, как «WolfEye Studios».
