Another Sunday at #ReferenceDesk.
Today mostly prepping research consults. Have one tonight, three already for the rest of week. For topic or two, student provides little and has lot of hope (i.e. very limited sources if any at all. Here is where I get creative).

Been a quiet shift at #ReferenceDesk today. We've had quite a few students coming in, doing homework, checking out study rooms. College is closed tomorrow due to #LaborDay, but students are using time wisely tonight. I've gotten some things done too.

Nope, sorry. I learned already I do not owe anyone a "debate." There are search engines, learn how to use them. Need help learning how to use them, you can ask your local friendly librarian (which includes me). Need help evaluating sources, there is #ReferenceDesk.
Speaking of timely relevance, I hear you. I gave up on debating or trying to even fact check ages ago. My peace of mind is the priority now.
Outside of my workplace #ReferenceDesk, it's pretty much this.
You can tell students are back. I am working a bit of time after end of shift. Oh well, happens, as long as students get help they need, I do not mind.

About to wrap up my first Sunday at #ReferenceDesk for fall 2023 semester. A bit busy, mostly small things and questions new students often ask. Overall, a good shift.

Years ago, when I was about to go do student teaching, a veteran teacher told me that there were some students who just refused to learn, you are not going to be able to make them, and you need to accept it.
Once in a while I help someone at #ReferenceDesk who fits that bill. There are just some you can't help because they won't be helped.
(But you still do what you can).
When you call over the phone: help me help you. A little patience means I can get you a more direct answer. If you keep cutting me off because you are looking at the website and think you got what you need, oh well. They got an answer, the long way, but I could've gotten them a better answer not to mention a direct contact to the person they really need to talk to. Oh well, good luck.

In the local #BadEconomy. On side note, I had a student research consult recently writing about this sort of thing. I could've used this report to share. Link to report including in article.

Once again, Sunday at #ReferenceDesk. Last Sunday for summer term, after that we go to interim hours until fall semester starts mid-August. Once we go back to regular hours, back to Sunday rotation.

Putting in some time at #ReferenceDesk. Also prepping a research consult for next Sunday.
Of possible interest to some.
