It's the official position of Skastodon that we support the #SkaGothAlliance. Whether you're into #ska, #goth or something else, you're welcome here.
This also goes for #punk, #reggae, #newwave, #rocksteady, #dancehall and a lot of other genres.

Stayed up last night putting this business card to promote the place. Getting more people here is a pretty big goal for the rest of the year.

Fun fact: #Skastodon was predicted in the late 60s when a person named "Toots" started making #Ska, #Rocksteady and #Reggae.

We also got a new album from Rhoda Dakar of The Bodysnatchers.
Rhoda Dakar - Version Girl
It leans more #Reggae than Ska or #TwoTone, but it's a really fun batch of covers.

Today's #Ska album rec is definitely more Ska-adjacent, but sounds great, and I think it's pretty new? It's one I'd like more info on myself!
The Capturers - The Capturers (2023?)
NYC based #Reggae & #Rocksteady w/ a little bit of Ska, some Cali Reggae energy, killer vocals, and very fun horn solos. But other than this having been recently added to Spotify (the only place it's available), I've hit a wall trying to learn anything about the album, or the band.

Today's #Ska album rec is a little more Skadjacent, but also rounds out a UK trilogy of sorts:
Inner Terrestrials - Heart of The Free (2021)
I caught this alongside Bar Stool Preachers and The Filaments, and they're all kinda inseparable to me. This is overtly political, #Punk, and #Reggae, mixed with #Folk and Ska. And the combination is one I don't really have a good comparison for.

I know everyone will be (rightfully) excited about the new album by The Pomps today. But if you're looking for a #Ska album on the roots-ier side of things, Los Guanábana from Mexico also just put out their self-titled album.
It's instrumental Ska, #SkaJazz, #Reggae, & #Dub, and just as good as their last album that I recommended; "Welcome to Reality" (2022).

Today's #Ska album rec is about as old as I'm likely to get with these, but it's a real gem:
New Town Kings - Reach Out (2018)
UK based Modern/Trad Ska & #Reggae with a touch of hip-hop. It's bright, charming, and upbeat, and doesn't have a bad song on it. And it never fails to improve my mood. Particularly on mornings like today when I need a little extra pick-me-up.

Oh shit, it's Thursday! Time for a #Ska album rec:
Chainska Brassika - Tales of a Londoner (2022)
An album I've mentioned in passing already, but deserves its own highlight. One of the many stellar albums out of the UK last year. It's #TwoTone, #Reggae, and #Rocksteady, and a bit of Pop and Rock. And it's great! It's one I often forget about, but I'm always happy to re-find

New #Ska album out yesterday:
Zeme Libre - Take Me Alive
And I think it's great! It covers a lot of ground in 7 songs, from #TwoTone/#SkaPunk through Sublime-esque #Reggae stuff, #Rocksteady, and even a little Dub and Funk. With rockin' guitars throughout, and even flutes on a couple tracks.
I may have had "Wash Em Out" on repeat in the car today for a good 20 mins:

Absolutely loving this single from Baltimore's Smoke and Mirrors Sound System. I missed it when it dropped but finding a new Kelly Defillipo feature is just what I needed to hold me over until the new Loving Paupers drops. #reggae
Before I forget it's #TwoToneTuesday here's a song off an album I didn't know existed until this morning.
No Water Please - Everyday (Time Hard)
https://youtu.be/NLCkG2pMids
From 'Ska Goes Brass" (2022) an album of mostly instrumental brass band covers of #Ska and #Reggae standards. And yeah, I know it was a Pioneers song before The Selecter got to it. But like many covers on this album I associate it more with #TwoTone

8. Groundation - One Rock
Traditional Jamaican styled one drop Reggae with Jazz and Rock flares. I caught a lot of Cali Reggae, and Dancehall-esque stuff that flows through different styles, but very little that sounds like this. Or matches this consistency.
