Encouraged to see increased discussion about target study selection for replication. This #RegisteredReport used a modified #Delphi approach that involved a mutli-staged process culminating in a "checklist for transparently communicating the rationale for selecting studies for replication"

Few weeks ago I got my first #RegisteredReport accepted (in principle acceptance). I truly cannot understand why anyone who is collecting data as part of a study, would not want to use registered reports.

Darn. It's been such a --fun-- idea, but seems to be gradually falling apart.

'Skill and self-knowledge: empirical refutation of the dual-burden account of the Dunning–Kruger effect'

Conclusion of abstract (nobody needs to read the paper-- we're too smart for that, eh?):

"These results refute the dual-burden account and suggest that the classic DKE is a statistical regression artefact that tells us nothing much about metacognition."

It’s important to evaluate initiatives like RRs to see how they’re working in practice and to incentivise journals to make the RR process optimal, and your feedback as either a reviewer or author will help that evaluation. Not to mention you’ll be helping @benmeg with his PhD!

Today we're launching Registered Reports Community Feedback - a site to better understand authors' and reviewers' experience of the Registered Reports peer review process:

The broad goal is to collect data regarding how well various aspects of the Registered Reports process are implemented across academic journals.

On 28 Oct I announced an #openscience policy update at the journal Cortex: Apart from rare exceptions, authors intending to publish their #RegisteredReport in Cortex should now submit to the Peer Community in Registered Reports.

Yesterday, I submitted the second part of Stefanie Mueller's and my Registered Report: "Survey on attitudes and experiences regarding preregistration in psychological research" (first part of the RR: https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0253950).🥳 Afterwards I went out for dinner because you should not only celebrate publications but also submissions!😂 💪
