In all seriousness though, its probably better for individual servers to decide which servers they want to block, and just allow the relays act as a... relay.

Worth checking out #FediBlock to check what servers you might want to block.

Day off today, so, trying to get my head around #Rust :Rust: by starting to write a #Fediverse #Relay from the ground up.

I'm quite liking #Rust so far. A bit different from what I'm used in (#Java & #Scala). Its more reminiscent of my memories of #C.

Biggest issue is finding good documentation for #relays.

ukrelay.link is currently down.

Must be the Trump effect.

For UK server admins, we've started hosting an instance of the relay at https://ukrelay.link/.

We would like to keep the traffic to UK sites, so we will be reviewing sign-ups and potentially knocking non-UK sites off if they start joining and potentially moving to a whitelist mode of operation.

Its hosted using Cloudflare + AWS EC2.

I'm not sure if any other Admin's are still using relays but I wouldn't mind putting the community in touch with other good ones to share discoverability for communities that I know would get along more often than not.

I could totally see just avoiding them for security reasons too though.
