So apparently the ‘Song of Marion’s Men’ is about Francis Marion, colonial American soldier during the American Revolution, and has nothing to do with Robin Hood. I just thought it did my entire life.

It’s thanks to Mike Duncan’s that I made the connection. It’s a great podcast, so I’ll forgive him for ruining my childhood.

To be fair, there are still a remarkable amount of similarities. Both songs are about trees and fighting the British.

Really liked this podcast episode with Culture as Code. a16z.simplecast.com/episodes/c really liked how Ben Horowitz talked about Haiti's revolution & Toussaint Louverture's leadership. I first read about it in C.L.R. James's The Black Jacobins. More recently in the Revolutions podcast. It is not often that you hear business leaders talking about his leadership though.

Re-binging the first season of the & it will always make me giggle when describes what happened when Charles I decided to impose the Book of Common Prayer on the Scots:

"...Charles had gone & shot himself in the foot up in Scotland. Shot himself in both feet. Shot himself in the head, & then fired himself out of a cannon."
