#NASA #ESA #Webb telescope image of #RhoOphiuchi cloud complex where stars are born.
Resembles a blooming flower of sorts.
Incredible view, mind you, only made possible if you have a set of filters and the right instruments to capture the proper wavelength of light.

This stunning image taken by ALMA in Chile at 1.3 mm radio wavelength shows a spiral protoplanetary disk around young star Elias 2-27, not far from the area imaged by JWST in the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex.
Image FOV: 0.0013° x 0.0013°
Res: 0.0000667°
Spiral arm radius : 10+ billion km
Star mass: 0.5 M☉
Disk mass: 0.1 M☉
The spirals are either caused by young planets or they create conditions for planet formation.

This image of the central part of the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex was taken by the NASA Spitzer space telescope in 2008, in infrared wavelengths from 3.6 to 24 µm. Field of view = 2.1° x 1.0°.
Several young stars are visible in infrared light in the dark Lynds 1688 region.
Young stars with disk systems show up as red in this image. More evolved stars, which have shed their natal material, are blue.

The many spectacular colors of the Rho Ophiuchi (oh'-fee-yu-kee) clouds highlight the many processes that occur there. The blue regions shine primarily by reflected light. Blue light from the Rho Ophiuchi star system and nearby stars reflects more efficiently off this portion of the nebula than red light. The Earth's daytime sky appears blue for the same reason. […]
