Party preference tickets were abolished in #Australia after the 2013 #election, in which a #workingClass gentleman, named #RickyMuir was elected.
There was nothing particularly bad about Ricky — like there was nothing bad about parties preferences. The big problem with publicly available #PartyPreferences is that:
a) they required majorParties to talk to minorParties,
b) forced majorParties to publicly rank parties (though vote splitting was possible),

Over time they've lampooned #thirdParties, into non-existence (see the emotionally driven attacks on #RickyMuir (2015) that saw a perfectly sound, *and revealing* #PartyPreferences method of #voting get abolished!
