One of the worlds orbiting the Citadel is inspired by Rime of the Frostmaiden, frozen, only 10 towns left. Each named after something proudly salvaged from the winter world.

Loom, Judge, Elf, Mage-Town, Anvil, etc

Outside of the Ten Towns is a wilderness dominated by yeti, polar owlbears, white dragons, winter wolves and such...

Everything in the book would just be tools to build out the world rather than a linear adventure...

After my #CurseOfStrahd game ended, we moved onto #RimeoftheFrostmaiden, but keeping the same characters - which means upgrading encounters to account for a *level 12* party.

One of the changes I made has been replacing your common or garden gnolls, where they appear, with Fangs of Yeenoghu or Flinds.

For some reason, I didn't consider the players trying to loot the flinds' magic flails...

For whatever reason, the adventure, Rime of the Frost Maiden is on my mind. No idea why.

Thinking about how I'd set it in the last 10 Towns in an otherwise frozen hellscape of a world. Each town is named after something it has proudly salvaged from the now-frozen world.

So tonight I spent some time digging through the monsters at the end of the Guildmaster’s Guide to Ravnica book, and man! There are just a ton of great monsters back there! I think a lot of them might fit pretty well in Ythryn when I get there. And maybe some before? need to do a bit more reading.

BTW...we barely survived yesterday's battle with the Chardalyn dragon. Several of us went down, multiple times, even falling off the dragon, free falling due to having 0 hit points. I've been learning to play support role (not something I normally do) and my casting Slow certainly helped.

Our party member's griffin familiar, also came in handy ;-)

First session of #IcewindDale #RimeOfTheFrostmaiden tonight and it was great. Started off with an introductory quest on the journey to Ten Towns that the players dealt with in a unique manner. Then we headed into Bryn Shander where the darker elements of the campaign immediately reared their head. Again, the players went in a unique direction and I can see that I'm going to be kept on my toes here. Looking forward to the next session in the new year. #ForgottenRealms #DnD5e #DnD #TTRPG #RPG

Running #dnd5e #RimeoftheFrostmaiden for a second time, I added an extra detail to the Cold-Hearted Killer: over the past two years of never ending winter and endless nights, Torg’s Caravan is the only remaining source of sundries and resources from outside of Ten Towns and one of the few remaining caravans that travels from town to town. Makes for interesting conversations and interactions as the party searches for the suspected murderer.

DMing #RimeoftheFrostmaiden again and having much more fun this time than the first. I find myself able to better weave the story and plot lines together. #DnD

I’ve been having an absolute blast with #RimeoftheFrostmaiden. The vibe is so disquieting, even with objectively powerful characters and getting to see them flex on unsettling enemies is a joy. Painted minis and terrain make encounters feel really special, too, even if it’s just because I get to see the effort put into painting them pay off 😄

#dnd is great; I can’t wait to see what The Crystal Kobolds do next week!
