You can see she spots something, stops swimming, sounds a warning and then flees with the young. Shame I couldn't show you the Beaver but it emerged a few moments later. As well as this fantastic moment of nature, I saw (amongst other things)Kingfisher, 17+ Swift, 2 Beaver. A lovely evening's walk.

I saw my first #Kingfisher of the year today - I spent two hours sat quietly on the banks of the River Otter waiting for an #Otter (with no luck). But it was quiet and peaceful and I don't regret the time spent.
This is a male Otter from a year or so back. Treasured memory.

A ten year project restoring the lower River Otter (near Budleigh Salterton) to a more natural state after the area had been meddled with by humans for centuries is reaching its end. It will help 'manage' the sea rise predicted. It is already benefitting wildlife.
