Paddleboarded Lily Lake this morning, on the edge of Rocky Mountain NP, an hour from home. It’s tiny, maybe a mile around, and just off a busy state highway so there’s traffic noise but with wind through the trees, pleasant. Ducks and more ducks, tiny fish in the weeds, two ground squirrels sunning on rocks watching me float by, a muskrat carrying grass from point A to B, and a raven who I annoyed by getting off the water too close to her picnic table. #RockyMountains #colorado

Probably the hardest hike of the last days lead us through a forest close to a small stream. The hike was beautiful, but over 400m height difference and a total distance of 11km left us quite exhausted!
At least, we were rewarded with a #moose encounter in the meadows at the top - fortunately, it kept its distance, just kept watching us until we had gone (and I did not get a good photo of it...).

Today's tour took us into the #RockyMountainNationalPark! After a recommendation from a local, we decided to go up to #BearLake and do the managable and extremely beautiful hike to the other nearby lakes (see image descriptions). This hike took us above a height of 3000m which was quite noticable on our breath!

Today, we chose a rather easy hiking trip: Up to #LilyMountain - 6km length, 380m height from the parking lot, up to the peak at 2967m altitude!
This was really beautiful, and we made it to the top before the clouds and rain arrived (but we could see them approaching from the direction of #EstesPark!)

The excursion took us up to an elevation of 12,000 feet (3658 m) to the Alpine Vistor center in the #RockyMountains national park! The high elevation was quite noticable after a very short climb from the parking lot.
We unfortunately didn't have a lot of time up there, but the view above the tree line (with quite some residual snow) was amazing!

In Denver for a work conference currently. Flew in and immediately went to the Rocky Mountain National Park. It was amazing.
The roads were clear but the trails were covered in snow. We got to do a .75 mile hike around the frozen Sprague Lake.

Finally got to Brainard Lake with the skinny skis for the first time this winter. It’s only an hour drive but somehow with two teens in the house every weekend moment is spoken for. The trail starts at 10000’ elevation and climbs from there, so slow going for us flatlanders. Happily there’s plenty of snow in the trees, so there should be at least another month to get out again. #NordicSkiing #Colorado #RockyMountains

In 1993 bezocht ik #RockyMountains #NationalPark in #Colorado #usa.
Vanuit het oosten kom je het park binnen bij #EstesPark, de plaats waar het beroemde #StanleyHotel staat waar de film 'The Shining' werd opgenomen (1980).
In de maand juni was er meer om je over te verbazen. Een 'normale weg' zonder haarspelbochten leidt naar 4.000 meter hoogte, waar je tussen #sneeuwmuren verder naar het westen rijdt in je auto.
We stopten voor een wandeling. (2)
