@zrail That's the one iffy piece for me. The switches have the option of a local on-device controller, but the APs don't.

For what I'm looking to do, it may not be a big deal, but something I have to discuss with others here. I'm trying to balance features with ease of use and simplicity.

I've seen #Ruckus come up in a few conversations, as well as #Grandstream and #EnGenius as other options in this space.

@ashcorpdev I also tried out the UDM Pro and found it... lacking for my purposes. I ended up switching to a used corp desktop (HP EliteDesk 800 G2 SFF) with a dual port Mellanox ConnectX-3 running #OPNsense and I couldn't be happier. I also moved the WiFi to #Ruckus R600s and it's been solid even on the aging EOL hardware.

I know a few people who had good luck with #Mikrotik, just be aware that they have a reputation for #yolosec and unsafe defaults. Make sure you check those configs thoroughly before you get those into homeprod. #homelab
