Why yes, 6th level cleric, you may hire an alchemist, outfit a laboratory and then proceed to attempt to make a potion of healing.
However, there's either a good chance the potion will be useless (or poison!) or you need to double the time, cost and amount of holy material needed to contribute to the potion.
(This is how I interpret and work with AD&D rules for my campaign.)

When it comes to gaming, do you prefer playing by the hard rules, or do you play things fast and loose? Does this also influence the types of games you play?

Hm, perhaps someone of you can give me a starting point:
I was wondering how #textbasedgames of the 80s parsed input.
According to Wikipedia, they understood a few hundred commands.
Is that with a proper parser?
Regular Expressions? Inclusion checks on substrings?
I'm pondering whether #gamedevjs might be a Scribblenauts clone of sorts.
