No, you are right about confirmation. We actually have a way to do payment confirmation but it's new and we haven't done any real world testing with it. Alecks developed the JPT idea:

For now we're just #runningwithscissors, but I'd like to start testing JPT soon when I dig out of my backlog hole. I'd be interested, if you have time to read it, what you think.

@suorcd You're ok. Using the gateway is a work-around for pinning directly (some nodes were having issues). I'll make a change in the morning to fix it. Meanwhile, your node is still pinning the correct files (just over https:// instead of ipfs://). #runningwithscissors
