So what's the deal with Rust's immutable variables that can be shadowed? The shadowing seems to make the immutability moot. Additionally it feels like is makes the code less readable and harder to maintian. A immutable variable can m change value and type but also stay the same as it was originally later on.
Is it a memory use optimisation? Or to improve thread safety? The book's reasoning for it is pretty thin and unconvincing so far. I don't get it. Can someone enlighten me? #RustLanguage

So having read more of "the book" it appears that Rust might have a few interesting things up its sleeves. Playing with code outside work isn't really my jam but I might make an exception this time we'll see. #RustLanguage
