It’s been a pretty successful week so far. Got a #lambda function to update our #S3 bucket policies and #sql backups direct to an S3 bucket accomplished too. Off to a good start!

#Amazon has a vested interest to act a bit more longterm.
Unlike #Microsoft's #EEE https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embrace%2C_extend%2C_and_extinguish#Examples_by_Microsoft ] they want #S3 to become the de-facto standard, as they already dominate #CloudComputing and making shit easier on their platform will only work if it isn't exclusive.

Even if that means Microsoft ( #Azure ), #OVH, #Hetzner and even #Proxmox can do the same...

It also fixes a lot of issues #iSCSI has...

@encthenet in fact, I'd argue that even Amazon's shitty #S3 #API is an #OpenStandard since there are multiple drop-in reimplemetations and unlike say #Oracly, #Amazon doesn't even try to ban those.

For example, instead of talking about #Linux, they say "Ubuntu" (seriously...). Or to mount an #S3 volume, the variables are called "aws_xxx". S3 is a protocol for God's sake... We have object storage elsewhere too...
Examples: #Minio, #Scaleway provides S3 storage...

Please, use the right terms.

The key info comes from #s3 files
So, we need to process from S3 to RDS

But When I export that project with say 50 tracks it takes about 6hrs over night but thousands of variations in key/tempo are uploaded to a CDN https://signalsandsorcery.org/ - I've only been doing this for a few months, and I have around a terabyte of loops in #aws #s3

Beware of S3_READ_TIMEOUT variable if you are hosting the #Mastodon server yourself.

The default value is set to 5 for this and that could start creating lots of trouble even if upload works fine with S3 bucket integration.
