Not sure I understand why Bloomberg is reporting so earnestly on this transparent BS from the studios.
Can you imagine auto makers claiming this before walking into negotiations with the UAW:
"Financially we're sound and have good cash flow because we not saddled with ... checks notes ... the costs of making cars or paying people to make cars"
I hope the unions negotiate a crazy good deal out of this. #wga #sag
The issues that face #SAG are existential. The notion of digitizing extras will basically hamstring a generation of actors who depend on background work for survival. I was one of them. In 2009 when the economy fell off a cliff, I worked background to keep in an apartment. Did that for four years. #Strike is important.
100% support the strike and #SAG but absolutely got paid 65 bucks for a 17 hour day on Franโs pilot the Daytrippers in 1998. 65 bucks flat for three days of limitless overtime. I agreed because I needed the money. I think about that when I see her as the face of worker solidarity in Los Angeles.
I had no idea actors make so little from streaming. A bunch of actors are sharing their residuals and a lot of them are like 30 cents or less. An Orange is the New Black actor got $27.30 for overseas residuals. ๐ฑ A friend said yesterday she doesn't feel sorry for actors since they all make tons of money but I think only a tiny fraction are in that category. Bob Iger needs to STFU. #SAG #ActorsStrike #FairPay https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/working-actors-sharing-actually-residuals-161845845.html
