The #SanFrancisco Elections Commission has not renewed the employment agreement of SF Department of Elections head John Arntz, and has instead invited him "to re-apply for his own job next year."

#SanFrancisco elections are never boring!

In 1993, Police Officer Bob Geary was using a ventriloquist dummy named Brendan O’Smarty for community policing efforts. Geary had degrees in art and education, and four Medals of Valor.

When his captain told him to get rid of O'Smarty, Geary collected signatures for a ballot measure to let him use the dummy on duty.

The measure passed! The pair retired in 2000 after many years of service together.
