Listening to Michael Meeks of @CollaboraOffice at #SFSCon explaining how one of the challenges of digital sovereignty is sustainably funding #OpenSource while maintaining the full promise of #Software Freedom.

He has run through many possible business models and said at the end of each how it depends on an ever growing market to be viable. How can we fund open source in a world where we have found the global growth myth is false?

@kirschner Slightly surprised how little I have seen of #SFSCon in the Fediverse.

Politico wants us to worry that foreign companies may influence European #policy and #legislation on AI. The far greater issue they ignore is that, by handing the pen to ETSI, their attitude that including royalty-required patents into #standards is desirable will be reflected in European law, locking out open source and thus also citizen scrutiny of code.

Also horrifyingly tolerated by @EU_Commission - I'll be speaking about this at #OSXP and #SFSCon this week.
