The #calckey is nice software for #fediverse, I have account there. Alas, I like to hanging around more on my own instance that I host myself using vps. Hosting #calckey is expensive (for me at least), so I must content with #gotosocial or #snac for my account.

Spent a few hours setting up #snac [0] on my server [1] today. Really cool (and *very* opinionated) ActivityPub implementation.

Thanks once again to Herby Gillot, the PRs I submitted last night for got 0.84.1 and snac 2.23 have been merged and should be available via MacPorts.

PR to update the MacPort for @grunfink 's snac to version 2.23:
https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/pull/17799
Previous merged PR was for 2.18. Although, someone opened this Trac ticket: https://trac.macports.org/ticket/66751 which is still open, because my attempts to refactor the Portfile with the PortGroup makefile 1.0 have been unsuccessful so far.
Thankfully, another ticket was opened: https://trac.macports.org/ticket/66989 so I can justify just pushing a version bump & solve the harder problem later?
#SNAC #fediverse #activtypub #macports
Well after a lot of local refactoring of the #MacPorts #snac Portfile to the point where I wasn't trusting some of the changes I had made to be worthwhile and was starting to get on the edge of creating new error messages.
I updated the Trac ticket with a version of the Portfile for 2.19 which at least functions on my local system:
https://trac.macports.org/ticket/66751
Maybe others can provide insights on how to improve it better?
#macports #SNAC #portgroup #makefile
OK, I *think* I figured out sufficient livecheck parameters?
CI checks passed!
PR for #MacPorts to update @grunfink's #snac to version 2.18 here:
https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/pull/17348
It's up to someone else to merge it, but that still seemed easier to do than to figure out how to tweak my rpki-client PR given how unfocused I am at the moment and knowing the difficulties I have had with GitHub in the past.

Thanks to Herby Gillot, my PR to update @grunfink's #snac to 2.17 has been merged into #MacPorts.
Log of PR here:
https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/pull/17106
Details about the MacPort here:

PR submitted to update #MacPorts version of @grunfink's #snac to version 2.17: https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/pull/17106
CI checks passed, so that is a good sign at least?
Now, we play the "who with commit access will merge" game. ^_-
Haven't logged in here since Saturday & kinda happier to disengage tbh. There are reasons I abandoned FB/Meta/Birdsite/etc. & it wasn't just the robber baron billionaire techbro technocrats; many users these days are worse than spoiled children.
If I am going to make an effort: I would rather be with my OWN children.
Regardless, I submitted a PR to #MacPorts to update @grunfink's #snac to version 2.16:
https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/pull/17037
It's up to others to merge it.
#macports #SNAC #activitypub #fediverse
With much thanks to Herby Gillot, that PR is now merged.
@grunfink's #snac version 2.15 should be synced to your local MacPorts mirror relatively soon hopefully!
At the moment even https://ports.macports.org/port/snac/ is not yet reflecting the update and is still showing 2.14 so I am not entirely sure how long such things take to percolate through #MacPorts' infrastructure?
Patience is a virtue. I may not be very virtuous sometimes. ;)
OK PR submitted for #MacPorts Portfile (and minor Makefile.patch tweaks since the upstream Makefile changed slightly) for @grunfink's #snac
https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/pull/16985
CI checks appear to have completed successfully too!
It's up to someone else to merge but looking good so far!
#macports #SNAC #activitypub #fediverse
Oh no build error when attemptin to apply the patch for #snac 2.15.
% diff 14/snac2/Makefile 15/snac2/Makefile |wc
14 53 359
% diff -u 14/snac2/Makefile 15/snac2/Makefile|wc
29 107 869
Indeed, some lines have changed!
In theory? This should not be a hard fix.
Meanwhile, my brain: "how much sleep did you get?"
My tummy: "When did you last eat?"
My wallet: "ACH transfer isn't until tomorrow."
My eyes: "everything looks blurry doesn't it?"
My eyelids: "heavy."
With much thanks to @eborisch that PR has now been merged!
So, @grunfink's #snac version 2.14 should be available in a #MacPorts mirror soon!
#SNAC #macports #activitypub #fediverse
@grunfink's #snac 2.13 was merged into #MacPorts with a bit of a clean up on where the man pages are placed thanks to @eborisch!
https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/pull/16896
#SNAC #macports #activitypub #fediverse
I submitted a PR to #MacPorts for #snac 2.13. So, while it hasn't been merged yet, I am guessing it will be ready for others soon enough.
Moreover, if you have not yet installed @grunfink 's snac?
Well, if you start fresh with 2.13 you presumably don't need to worry about the upgrade stuff, because: you'll already be at the most current version! Praise be to slackers! ^_-
PR can be viewed here: https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/pull/16895
It appears as if #snac builds OK on macOS going all the way back to Sierra:
https://ports.macports.org/port/snac/details/
El Capitan and older, maybe not so much?
Something similar is true for #gameoftrees : https://ports.macports.org/port/got/details/
I think older OS X versions are missing certain libraries and functions that many depend upon? legacysupport-devel maybe would be a way to rectify that? I am uncertain. I've seen one potentially useful proposal from got at least, but haven't tested it yet.
With much thanks to @eborisch as well as @neverpanic jmr & sTMR on #MacPorts' #liberachat #IRC channel.
The illustrious @grunfink's #snac (Social Networks Are Crap) is now available in MacPorts:
https://ports.macports.org/port/snac/
Looks as if it also built successfully on Big Sur & Sierra?
(I wonder how many other older macOS/OS X versions can run it?)
