I made a bit of progress on my London #jobsearch ... by which I mean I found a job listing site and browsed a bit.

It seems easy to find #DevOps roles which I would be qualified for; I was an #SRE at Google and have done lots of DevOps since for myself and others.

Sadly there seems to be a correlation between how evil a company is, and the size of the paycheck...

I'm also a little fuzzy on what the lead-time is for things like this, how long does hiring tak in the UK? Weeks? Months?

Why would an #SRE have any interest in learning the basics of #COBOL? We're curious! It's fun! But it's also still a building block of a ton of data processing today, and it gives you a technical advantage to be clueful about these strengths.
