I definitely have a bias towards Irish artists over the centuries, and this guy was the president of the RHA... but... his portraits really seem out of whack. Today is the birthday of Ruth Henshaw Bascom, a folk artist. What I like about "Aunt Ruth" is that she was 29 when she did her first portrait, but 46 when she started regularly. She has 1400 attributed portraits!
As someone on the wrong side of 40, this is refreshing to hear.
