Ever since Lift Bridge Brewing in Stillwater, #Minnesota changed the recipe for their Farm Girl #beer from a #saison to a #goldenale, I have been looking for a replacement. I’m looking for a light saison, with a relatively low ABV. As I understand it, historically, saisons were low ABV beers meant for quenching the thirst of field hands. Many commercially available saisons are malt heavy, high ABV beers that do nothing to quench thirst. Suggestions?

My latest article for The Bulletin is about one of Central Oregon’s newest breweries, #FunkyFaunaArtisanAles in Sisters. It focuses primarily on small batch #wild #fermentation with a house-cultured yeast, mostly draft with a limited run of cans.

Hood River’s #FermentBrewing released three new beers for the month of July, including a specialty #saison brewed with Douglas fir tree tips. That beer, The Sentinel, is fermented with a house wild yeast strain and aged in oak before infusing with the fir.

Recently #GoodLifeBrewing released its latest barrel-aged creation, a blend of saison-style ale with grape must and peaches to culminate in Peach Chardonnay, what the brewery is calling a “Hybrid Wine Ale.” The brewery gave me bottles to review.
