#FinishedReading (as an ebook because I'm travelling) #SamanthaShannon's Roots of Chaos series is epic and stunning, but this series is pure popcorn and feels like she was having a holiday writing it: sexy vampire-esque creatures, magical gangsters, constant twists and betrayals, heapings of supernatural violence; it's the sort of book where a villain's most potent weapon is the enslaved poltergeist of Jack the Ripper. #Bookstodon @bookstodon

stayed up during a workweek night last night reading A DAY OF FALLEN NIGHT by #SamanthaShannon and while I won't bore y'all with how immersive and detailed the worldbuilding is (I LOVE IT) I actually did Google the history of cheesecake and was delighted to find that it *was* a thing in medieval times!

I done got myself a copy of #ThePrioryOfTheOrangeTree by #SamanthaShannon. It will be next year before I get to it, but I've read the first four pages & I think I will enjoy it.
