Over 200 Chinese nationals who flew into the country on the inaugural direct flight from China were officially welcomed in an ava ceremony at the Maota o Samoa on Monday evening.

The direct flights to Samoa from China are 10 years in the making, as it was one of the key pointers of an Air Rights Agreement signed between Samoa and China in 2015.

However, you can celebrate the #NewYear twice within 24 hours. Start in #Samoa on #NewYearsEve, and then on New Year's Day take a short 30-minute plane hop across the #InternationalDateline to American Samoa, arriving on New Year's Eve (again), and ringing in the New Year again. So the first and last. I did it one year, it was fun and novel. #travel
